Tokyo Cherry Blossom 2027 Viewing Spots Japan

Experience Tokyo's cherry blossoms at 7 must-see spots from late March to early April.

Tokyo, located in the heart of the Kanto Plain, enjoys an early cherry blossom season due to the urban heat island effect. The iconic Somei Yoshino typically blooms from late March to early April, attracting throngs of travelers during its brief two-week flowering period.

Ueno Onshi Park, home to around 1,200 Somei Yoshino trees, has been a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period. Chidorigafuchi, with its 700-meter-long moat, offers a picturesque setting where you can paddle boat and admire the blossoms reflected on the water's surface. Shinjuku Gyoen, meticulously maintained, boasts over 1,000 trees across 65 varieties, providing a stunning display that lasts more than four weeks from early to late bloomers.

To enjoy the cherry blossoms without the crowds, it's best to avoid weekend afternoons and visit in the morning or on weekdays. The Tokyo Metro makes it easy to hop between various viewing spots, and many parks with illuminated blossoms often extend their hours until 9 or 10 PM.
