Himeji Port Fireworks Festival

This is a maritime event held in the Himeji Port area (around Shikama Wharf) in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, fixed for mid to late September. Approximately 5,000 to 6,000 fireworks are launched.

The main highlight of the event is that the launch site is only about 300 meters from the viewing area on the beach, allowing spectators to feel the power of the fireworks exploding on the sea surface at an extremely close distance. The program includes rapid-fire fireworks synchronized with music, special fireworks in the water, and multiple large aerial salutes.

Transportation is available via the Sanyo Electric Railway Main Line to 'Sanyo Shikama Station,' from which it is about a 25-minute walk to the port area; on the day of the festival, an official shuttle bus will also operate from the south exit of JR 'Himeji Station.' The venue is mostly flat, providing an extremely open view.
